Our Purpose...

Established in 2010, the Mavis Reid Foundation is a non-profit organization created to serve New York City's underpriviledged and minorities who want a second chance at creating a honest and self-fulfilling life for themselves and their family. We look to facilitate training and development to empower our target communitites, provide opportunities which educate young adults about marketable skills and trades, build self-esteem and pride community youth by presenting opportuniities which encourage participation in meaningful projects and leadership developement.

We also look to encourage interest, awareness, and activism in local and national political arenas with reference to the plight of individuals who have been incarcerated or otherwise temporarily removed from society; to initate and promote civic and political programs beneficial to such individuals and their families; to provide food, clothing and other necessary items. Also to organize and conduct literacy programs to teach reading and writing skills; to aid, assist, cooperate, cosponsor and otherwise engage in concerted action with private and governmental agencies, organizations and institutions on all programs designed and dedicated to the improvement of life for individuals who have been temporarily removed from society.

We are committed to our purpose and the services we provide to help create an environment in which they can be most successful, in even the most complex and difficult urban environments.
